So the wife came home from grocery shopping with one of these:
"Oh, you got yourself a hose," I said.
"It's for you, dear," she said.
I don't want that fuggin thing. I mean look at it, it's half-inch hose.
And it's not a shrinker. They list features on the side of the box, including: "Does not retract or expand". That's a feature?
I had extra Quick Connect fittings, so after the thing sat a few days I put them on. The hose comes wrapped like thread on a spool, with the two ends sticking up from the middle. I pulled the ends out a few inches and put my fittings on.
Then I figured I'd try it. I pulled the ends out a little more, and that looked like the right way to unpack it. But as I was feeding it out the box, laying it out straight as I went, it started looking like a double-helix. The inlet and outlet ends of the hose come wrapped around each other, and the more you yank out of the box, the more they are wrapped around each other.
When you get to the end, it's the middle of the hose. And the whole thing, from the ends to the middle, is all wrapped the one around the other. I nected up the inlet end, put a spray nozzle on the output end, and started watering our Japanese Maple. I didn't even get halfway around the tree. I got stuck because the hose is all tangled together. What asshole would make a product like this?
And that's when I said: I know what I'll do. I'll go to Hose Woes and write about it.

Other features listed on the box:
"Pliable core prevents kinking"
No it doesn't.
"High density woven outer covering for durability"
We'll see about "durability".
"Ergonomic, Crush-resistant aluminum couplings"
Aluminum? And
"High burst up to 600 psi. High flow."
Well if they are saying the hose is strong and won't burst, I guess I'll never know. Because my water pressure tops out at 60 psi, not 600.
It would indeed be "high flow" with water going thru the hose with 600 psi behind it. But at 60 it's gonna be low flow because it's only a damn half-inch hose.
Worst of all, it cost a lot.

That hose died early this year -- sprung a big leak at a spot where it always tended to fold. Got four years out of it.
