Doing all my hose maintenance during the winter means there is little chance to do it outside! 50 degrees out there today, so I did it.
I put all my stuff in a big cardboard box -- plastic hose fittings, brass hose fittings, used hose washers that might still be good (??) in a big box, took it outside to a place where my dogs can't go, and sprayed it up.
Remind me, I have to go get the box later.
Still alive after using the silicone spray.
By the way, I sprayed the underside of my mower deck with it, and it seemed to keep clippings from sticking (and making the deck heavier) for about a month.
Bought two cans to use on the mower deck and the snow blower. 10 oz spray can, $10.
