Silicone Grease

For hose washers, o-rings, etc: Eley Silicone Grease. Comes in a tube.

I just used the CRC spray, which I got locally. The Eley link provides access to an MSDS sheet for their silicone grease. First impression, it appears much less harmful than the CRC spray.

I got some NAPA Sil-Glyde Lubricating Compound. Comes in a tube, lie toothpaste. I don't see that they call it "grease" but I figured I'd try it. On the back of the tube it says "High film strength. Stays put. Water repellent. Won't run or melt. Effective from -20 to +600 degrees F. Prevents freezing. Harmless to rubber."

And "Apply with a clean cloth, brush, sponge or finger. Use sparingly. Remove excess."

And "Contains silicone. Observe usual pre-painting procedures."

4 oz. tube cost me seven bucks.

Dunno what they are claiming when they say "prevents freezing." Put a little on your shoes, does it keep your feet warm in a blizzard?

I see on the front of the tube it says "non-freezing". That's a little more reasonable.
